Came in with Hocus and Pocus

Ellie is a sweet and reserved cat who is slowly learning to trust and enjoy human interaction. She was nervous at first, but she now allows head and neck scratches and has shown signs of progress each day. She does best with a calm, patient approach, as sudden movements or loud noises can startle her and make her hiss. Ellie’s love for Churus has been a great way to build her confidence and a connection with her; today I was able to encourage her to come out of her hiding spot for a treat. Ellie would thrive in a quiet home with a cat owner who can provide her with the time and space she needs to grow more comfortable. I do hear playing from the other room sometimes, so I am sure she has a playful side that we just haven’t unlocked yet!

Foster Update

Ellie continues to grow braver and more trusting each day. Although she may still hiss when someone enters the room, she has begun to associate people with good things like treats and attention. Recently, she has started coming further out of her cat tree to receive her favorite treat, Churus, showing her growing confidence. While Ellie still prefers only head and neck scratches, her comfort level with people is improving. Any attempt to touch her beyond these areas may upset her, so a patient and understanding approach is essential. Ellie would do best in a quiet, calm home with someone experienced with shy cats or willing to be patient and learn. Watching her gain trust and come out of her shell has been incredibly rewarding, and she has great potential to continue blossoming in the right environment. Although the cats don’t play much while we are in the room, I can hear the toys being played and them running around the room at night! I think they both have playful sides that we are yet to see.

Furry Tales requires all small kittens to be adopted with a playful companion or for there to be a friendly feline already in the adoptive home. Kittens are social beings and companionship is an important part of their development.
