Meet Fredon.
This beautiful young man arrived last weekend and has already settled in well. He is incredibly friendly and loves to be stroked.
I assume he’s been used to living with a family with kids as he is very easy going and seems to enjoy some slightly rougher handling than most cats we’ve had – he even seems to enjoy a belly rub! I think he would be great with a family with kids as I don’t imagine he would ever bite or scratch – I reckon he would just take himself away if small hands were too rough.
He’s very vocal and likes to let you know when he’s around (particularly if he wants a stroke or to play). He loves to explore everything and everywhere! He would be great in a home where the family have a lot of time to play with him and I think he would enjoy some enrichment activities and games to keep him entertained.
Update number two for Fredon. As I mentioned in the previous post, he is such an affectionate cat with bundles of character. Now we’ve had him a couple of weeks he does seem to be settling down a bit more – he doesn’t seem to need to be around us all day as much and is happy to nap in a different room from us for a while. For the last couple of days he has also been a lot less vocal so I think he’s starting to realize that he can trust us to feed and play with him without him needing to demand it quite so loudly!
He loves playing – particularly with the wand toys. He has a weird obsession with finding and chewing plastic bags – including any part of a bin bag that may be poking out of the bin – so we’ve had to make sure that anything like that is put away when he’s around. He loves his cat tree and is frequently.
Foster Update
Fredon is a very intelligent cat, a big explorer and likes to get up to mischief if he feels bored we have been given (thanks to Donna!) a few enrichment toys for him. While he is mildly interested in them (and we are working on getting him more interested), in typical cat fashion, he has now decided that his favourite place to play and sleep is a shoe box I left on the floor yesterday…!
I still think that he would be best in a family with children who would like to give him lots of attention – as I don’t think he could have too much attention (he’s currently sitting by my head while I write this meowing pitifully because my attention is divided!). He is such a friendly, entertaining man with bags of character so I can’t imagine he will be difficult to home.
