TNR: A COLONY SAVED

One Cat at a Time

Real change happens when we work as one! Partnered with the efforts of warehouse staff in Ottawa’s south end, we’ve rescued 4 kittens, one mother cat who will give birth in a warm bed, and fixed and returned many adults.

We, and our lead contact Lauren, are still on-site trapping the last few residents to ensure no one is left behind. We can’t do this work without your support—thank you for helping us save lives right here in Ottawa!

TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) is the heart of this mission. While it might seem strange to return cats to a warehouse, it is the only home many of them have ever known. By spaying and neutering the adults, we immediately stop the cycle of kittens being born into hardship.

Returning healthy, fixed cats keeps the colony stable and stops new, un-fixed cats from moving in. It also means less fighting, less roaming, and a much better quality of life for the cats.

  • Hardship to Hope: A Fresh Start for Bubs

Bubs was rescued from the streets of Akwesasne. At only five years old, his body bears the heavy marks of survival: he has a Grade IV/VI heart murmur, severe dental disease with fractured canines, and has tested positive for FIV—a condition unfortunately common in outdoor colonies where cats must fight to survive.

Despite his painful past and current health challenges, Bubs is an incredibly gentle and kind soul. He is finally safe, but his healing will require extensive medical care and dental surgery. We are seeking donations to help Bubs get the specialized treatment he needs to live the healthy, pain-free life he deserves. We are deeply grateful for any support you can provide as he begins his new chapter.
