His journey to us was a difficult one; suspected of being abandoned at a campground, he survived a rough time where the local colony cats didn’t exactly welcome him. He arrived “battle-scarred” with a torn ear and facial scratches, but thanks to his rescue and two weeks of dedicated medical care, he is finally safe, warm, and mending beautifully.
Understandably, Archie’s past has left him feeling quite vulnerable. He is a sensitive soul who is currently finding his courage one day at a time. While he initially spent his days tucked away behind the safety of a bathroom pedestal, he has recently made the massive leap of exploring the living room! He is a “night owl” who enjoys his meals in the quiet dark, as he is still very wary of sudden noises and movement.
The most heartwarming update? Archie is starting to realize that human hands can be kind. Though he’s still protective of his back and dealing with some uncomfortable matting, he has discovered a love for chin scratches, head rubs, and even gentle brushing. He hasn’t offered a single hiss, proving that underneath his trauma lies a remarkably gentle spirit. Calypso and Milkshake are a palliative care bonded duo, who will remain with us for the rest of Milkshake’s days.
Calypso is an outgoing, energetic, and playful big black panther who is ready to steal your heart! Don’t let his handsome, 18-pound frame fool you—he is incredibly agile, effortlessly leaping to the top of a bookcase without knocking anything over. His long, silky black fur, accented by a small white “ascot” on his chest, rarely seems to matt.
This five-year-old boy is a complete sweetheart. He is super affectionate, not shy at all, and literally came out for pets the moment he arrived in care. He loves to roll onto his back for a good belly rub and purrs a soft, contented purr. Calypso is the perfect snuggle buddy and thrives on being around people. Calypso continues to be the best brother – he’s very tolerant and puts up with a lot from Milkshake, often helping groom him, a favour that is rarely returned.
This bigger-than-life boy comes with a built-in alarm clock, making sure you do not miss his breakfast time. He loves his food and makes sure he doesn’t miss a meal! Calypso doesn’t play independently as much as his brother and is obsessed with his wand toy and will chase it and you around the house every evening to ensure that your both get your exercise! He knows the sound of the drawer it’s kept in opening and always comes barreling around the corner for play time! He’s a very smart boy and will listen for the sound of the bell on the wand toy and hide around the corner it’s closest to, waiting for it to come by, instead of just chasing it around and around. Calypso also loves slippers and Kleenex boxes and if we leave these laying around he’s often found with his front legs/paws inside of them!
Quite the talker, Calypso will serenade you during car rides and meow when he hears you walking nearby, though he is quiet at night. He uses his litter box perfectly but will need an extra-large box to accommodate him. He absolutely LOVES Churu and Temptation treats! With Calypso, there is simply more to love! These two boys have very different personalities but compliment each other perfectly.
