Every once in a while, a cat enters our care who leaves us truly speechless. Recently we welcomed Cherie, a resilient girl whose physical appearance tells a story of an incredibly rough start. As you can see, Cherie’s ears have been intentionally mutilated; the cuts are far too precise to be from frostbite or an accident. While we don’t know who would do this or why, we know one thing for certain: it didn’t break her spirit.
True to her name (which means “darling”), Cherie is the absolute definition of a sweetheart. Despite what she has endured at the hands of humans, she carries zero fear and holds no grudges. She is incredibly friendly, immediately leaning in for face scratches and pets the moment you approach. She doesn’t want to look back at the past; she just wants to be a cherished part of your future.
Cherie is looking for a family who will look past her ears and see the beautiful, forgiving soul underneath. She is currently waiting for her forever home and is ready to show the world that her capacity for love is far greater than any hardship she has faced.
