Lovey (affectionately known as Lovey-loo) is a quiet and gentle senior whose world was recently turned upside down. After her devoted owner entered palliative care, Lovey joined our rescue to navigate the grief of losing the only home she had ever known. Despite these big changes, her resilient spirit is truly inspiring, and she has begun to blossom in beautiful ways—even starting to knead “tiny biscuits,” a sweet new habit she hadn’t shown before!
This affectionate girl lives up to her name and is happiest when she is the center of her humans’ world. She spends 90% of her time hanging out with her people and will be the first to greet you at the door. Lovey has a special bond with the daughter in her foster home and thrives around adults and respectful older children. While she isn’t a fan of being held for long, she has a charming daily routine where she “asks” to be picked up for a very quick, mandatory cuddle.
Though she is a senior, Lovey still has a playful side! She loves chasing string toys for short bursts, though her favorite “toy” is often her own tail. To keep her feeling her best, Lovey manages hyperthyroidism with daily medication, which she takes like an absolute champ. She also stays healthy on a special sensitive-stomach diet; while she loves it topped with a little Fortiflora “seasoning,” she’s a good eater who rarely misses a meal.
Lovey is a confident, unfazed girl who would prefer to be the only cat in the household, as previous attempts to bond her with others have shown she truly wants her humans all to herself.
