Maple arrived in his foster home after a difficult stay in a shelter quite scared. On his first day, he was all airplane ears and wide eyes, but is slowly starting to settle in and showing small signs of progress each day. The airplane ears have disappeared but he is still reserved and prefers the safety of his cardboard cave when people are around. The cat hair tumbleweeds in the room attest to the fact he is comfortable enough to explore when he is alone. He likes his water, has a good appetite and is very tidy in the litterbox.
His foster is giving him plenty of space and gentle company, spending quiet moments sitting nearby, reading, or talking softly to him, gently enticing him with a wand toy for play. Maple may need some time to fully come out of his shell, but with patience and love, this shy boy will surely learn that he’s safe and cared for.
