Mittens is a sweet, affectionate girl with the cutest extra toes! She loves gentle pets on her head and chin, leaning in with contentment. Since coming into care, she’s grown more and more affectionate, she will cuddle with anyone once she gets to know them. Her favorite pastime is lounging peacefully in her cozy bed, or by the window in the sun, and watching the world go by.
She benefits from gentle encouragement when introduced to new toys and her favorite toy is a feather cat wand. Once used to her toys, she has shown that she plays rough and likes to chew them. Toys without any potential removable parts are best. Her foster also discovered that she is not that reactive to catnips but she surely likes cat grass! I She’s recently been given a cat tree, and while she is not the most adventurous cat and knows how to use it, she prefers finding a good comfy spot in the sun to lounge the day away.
Mittens is on a hydrolyzed protein food and has been doing well. She is very food-motivated, often meowing to let her foster know when it is meal time. Due to her size (though she’s still the most beautiful kitty in our eyes!), she sometimes has difficulty grooming herself fully, so she would do best with an adopter who has some experience caring for animals and can help her stay comfortable and clean. She is not a fan of her paws and rear end being touched, and politely let you know that her boundaries have been crossed. With this in mind, she would also prefer a home with older children who will respect her boundaries.
Mittens would thrive in a quiet home where she can be the only cat and the center of attention. While not overly cuddly or a lap cat, she often stays near her foster when she senses they’ve had a long day. She’s an absolute angel! Well-behaved and never one to get into trouble.
