With beautiful amber eyes and a tail that confidently salutes the sky, Spencer is a handsome brown tabby who has come a massive way in our care. This sweet boy was originally saved from a high-kill shelter, facing untreated diabetes and the challenge of being declawed on all four paws. He has proven to be a true resilient champion, and we have some absolutely incredible news to share: Spencer is very close to diabetic remission! He has transitioned to eating regular wet food (Friskies) and has only required an insulin dose twice in the last two entire weeks.
In his foster home, Spencer is a delightful, chatty companion. He loves to follow his humans around to supervise daily activities (and check if any food might be involved), but he also has a lovely independent streak. You can often find him enjoying “Cat TV” from a sunny windowsill, chasing a wand toy through his tunnel, or zooming after a laser pointer. While he isn’t a fan of being picked up or held, he shows his deep affection by happily fluffing himself up and winding around your legs to say a warm hello.
Spencer is an active investigator who loves to check out every scent, which means he appreciates having his personal space respected when he gets a bit overwhelmed. Because other cats can still make him a little nervous, he would shine brightest as the only pet in a quiet, adult-only home, though he could potentially coexist with a very respectful feline friend after a slow, proper introduction.
