It’s been a year since Thalia joined the Furry Tales family and she’s eating well and is content and happy. She spends much of her time napping in her nest, coming down for food and the occasional pet.
At 15 years young, Thalia found herself facing a daunting road—scared, alone, and navigating a complex list of health challenges including kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, and asthma. We knew she deserved so much more than a shelter environment for her golden years, so she is now safe, cherished, and living as a palliative foster where she will be loved for as long as she needs.
Thalia has a very specific “retirement style.” She is a sweet, dignified lady who spends most of her time in her favorite “nest” at the very top of her cat tree. From her royal perch, she surveys her kingdom and enjoys a quiet, independent life. While she is affectionate, she isn’t a lap cat; she’ll gracefully descend for a few minutes of pets and forehead scratches before retreating back to her cozy sanctuary.
If there is one thing that rivals Thalia’s love for her cat tree, it’s her appetite! She is quite vocal when mealtime approaches and has a deep passion for Temptations and Weruva stew—in Thalia’s world, food definitely wins out over pets every time. She is a girl who values her peace and quiet, showing no interest in socializing with other cats or exploring the rest of the house. She is perfectly content in her own private room, living life on her own terms.
Thalia is a testament to the beauty of senior cats. Though her health journey is a delicate one, she continues to do well, proving that with the right care and a lot of love, even the most vulnerable souls can find happiness. We are honored to provide her with a soft place to land and a “castle” where she can feel like royalty every single day. She is now safe and loved in the care of one of our incredible fosters for as long as she needs.
